Blend-in ‘4 is a vocal group consisting of 4 professional singers from the Conservatorium in Tilburg, all sharing the passion for Vocal Jazz. Blend-in ‘4 is singing mainly close harmony music from old style vocal jazz ( e.g. repertoire of ‘The New York Voices’) till modern music including choral groups like ’The Idea of the North’. Besides existing music, they are also composing their own music for this vocal group.
My name is Jasper van Oerle, I am the bass-singer in Blend-in’4! Whilst I was studying to become a music teacher, I entered the Fontys Jazz Choir; in which I had the opportunity to present my low voice and my passion for Vocal Jazz. After completing this Bachelor, I started the Master of Music in Music Theory in 2015, during which I specialised in conducting and arranging for Vocal-Jazz ensembles. I regularly arrange for Blend-in’4 and I normally take place behind the piano during rehearsals.
I simply love the feeling of the jazzy harmony falling into place, providing the solid fundamental parts for such convivial fellow swingers is just awesome!
During my days as a first soprano in the Fontys Jazz Choir, I started to appreciate the art of singing Vocal Jazz. After I graduated my study ‘Teaching music’ at the conservatory in Tilburg, I wanted to learn more about singing Jazz and decided to start a Master study ‘Jazz and Pop Vocals’. Artists that inspire me are: Dianne Reeves, Bobby McFerrin, Victoria Tolstoy, Tierney Sutton and Laura Mvula.
Making goosebump-giving jazz-chords and progressions with three great friends using our voices is just awesome!!
From childhood on I was connected as a chorister at the Schola Cantorum in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. My interests for polyphonous music have been developed when I started as a singer at the Fontys Jazz Choir during my study to become a music teacher at the Conservatorium in Tilburg. This is where I developed my passion for vocal jazz. Besides the fact that I am performing with this great vocal group, I am working as a music teacher at the Primary and Secondary school.
